Dave and Don McElvey from the Colonial Garden and Nursery explore the organic tips that you can take home from a visit to Historic Colonial Williamsburg. The gardens of Williamsburg express the ways that organic techniques from the 18th century are still in use today, from soil building to frost protection. Today we visit the expansive formal gardens of The Governor’s Palace and some of the 100 gardens within the Historic Area. Colonial Williamsburg is a dynamic living museum that highlight’s this unique location in the defining of Revolutionary America and the birth of our Nation. Later, Dave joins Sean Hogan as he leads us through his groundbreaking micro-nursery, Cistus, near Portland, OR. There he challenges the ideas of what a Northwest landscape should look like with exotic plants from all over the world including Grevillea from Australia, choice figs from the Mediterranean and hardy bromeliads from Chile. The display gardens that surround Cistus are an explosion of foliage, texture, and color that is worth the visit in itself. Situated on beautiful Sauvie Island, Cistus is open daily. In this episode of Garden Travels, Dave’s favorites include: Sweet Pea and Snowflake Viburnum.
In the south of England, amidst the hills of Wiltshire, surrounded by woodland and mature trees, stands the most significant prehistoric example of Megalithic culture, Stonehenge. Looking almost as it must have been done more than 4000 years ago, at the time of the New Stone Age and Bronze Age, man created a shrine for a deity dedicated to a religion based upon nature and sun worship. Like gates built by Titans, these gigantic stones take us back to the Dark Ages.
I know Mexico has crime but Cancun is much safer than Rio De Janerio. And Lebanon is a good country and they are claiming terrorism groups but it is safer than Brazil and hell even ******* greece. So why are they scaring us from Mexico and Lebanon because I think this is retarded. I feel safer in Mexico than Detroit in St. Louis. Went to those cities this year.
I feel safe outside the "tourist zones" in Cancun and the Yucatan. My Dad works and Mexico and he says you have to look for trouble to get involved in it.
